Breaking News: Is Olivia Nuzzi's Vanity Fair Dream Over Before It Even Began?
It seems Olivia Nuzzi's highly anticipated role at Vanity Fair might be over before she even got her feet wet. Sources are buzzing that she's on her way out, even before receiving her Condé Nast laptop. But what's the real story?
One source bluntly stated, "It looks like they are getting rid of her," while another added, "I will not be surprised if they drop Olivia." The situation paints a picture of potential trouble.
But here's where it gets controversial... Apparently, Nuzzi didn't contribute to the upcoming issues, missing meetings and emails. One insider revealed, "The only thing she ‘edited’ in the Hollywood issue got cut."
This all comes as Nuzzi releases her new book, “American Canto,” which delves into a past relationship. She was brought on as West Coast editor in September, but now, her magazine career at Condé Nast might be over before it even began.
Adding fuel to the fire, her ex-fiancé, fellow political reporter Ryan Lizza, has been publishing his own essays filled with accusations. However, it's believed that Nuzzi's potential departure won't affect the magazine, now led by Mark Guiducci, who's trying to make his mark.
One source suggests her role was always more about prestige, not actual editing. Another source said, "It was going to be all about her looking glam at the Oscars party." Semafor reported that Vanity Fair might simply let her contract expire, with insiders reportedly disturbed by the allegations. Staff members are allegedly "embarrassed" and want her off the masthead.
And this is the part most people miss... Despite the rumors, another source claims no final decision has been made. The New York Times reported that Nuzzi and Guiducci met last July, discussing magazine reinvention in the digital age. It was only after she was hired that they learned about her upcoming book.
Lizza has also made claims about a past affair. Nuzzi's lawyer stated that her book discusses the only instance of an improper relationship in her career. Vanity Fair expressed surprise and is reviewing the facts. Nuzzi's book is set to be released on Dec. 2. Sources say Nuzzi was expected to earn "over $200K" for the job.
