User reviews of Widex Zen, Tinnitus Management
Nice App to Have
This is really well done. It’s great to be able to put on a soothing background whether you have tinnitus or not. And if you do there are several backgrounds, so depending on how bad your tinnitus is, you can go with soothing or with white/pink noise. Mine comes and goes, so it’s great being able to pick what works best for the moment. These are a lot like the backgrounds in an app I sometimes use with sleep phones when I can’t get to sleep. This app would work really great for that, but I take the hearing aids out at night when I sleep. Maybe I’ll try the sleep options for a nap sometime.Anyway, it’s really a nice app with more options and much more flexible than having a Zen program added to the HA by the audiologist.
I’m in my 60’s and had instant tinnitus onset after a stroke 2 years ago.VERY loud, 24x7, with occasional so-loud-I-want-to-die ‘storms’ that last several minutes.Tried 4 different ENTs / audiologists, acupuncture (2018 WHO study), Klonopin (too sedating), and Ativan (works somewhat but scary addiction potential and short duration), and medical cannabis (some strains help...others make it worse). Finally got a referral to a local tinnitus specialist who set me up with the Evoke hearing aids 2 weeks ago.I have the Evoke app for control...and have made my own ‘programs’...but every now and then, I just need the Zen soundtracks in this app.I was able to read a book (for some reason, the tinnitus made that difficult) with Zen Fly last weekend...and nearly cried.Yesterday...ONE Ativan instead of THREE.Widex hardware is not cheap, and insurance carrier laughed at me, but the improvement is very good. Hopefully, I can train the auditory cortex to behave. So far, this is the best thing I’ve found.
I have Meniere’s disease and have quite loud tinnitus in my left ear, a fairly high-pitched squeal. My audiologist just recommended this app to me, as I have Widex hearing aids with Comdex. I downloaded it and stated trying the various programs. The Tropical Night program (which might well drive some people crazy) does a really good job of masking my tinnitus. If you have Widex aids and if this app will work with them, try it out. I was skeptical, but with the wide range of programs, one of them just might work for you.
Helps my baby sleep!!
I use this app to help my newborn sleep and thank you so much for this!! It’s one of the only things that calms her down!!
Help for those bad days
When my T is bad in the morning.I find relief with this app till it calms down down. Luv zen dreams

Widex has had Zen technology for over five years, and it has been proven to be very successful in the field as a sound therapy tool, as well as promoting relaxation and decreasing one's awareness of tinnitus.
Widex Zen Therapy (WZT) is an industry-leading tinnitus management platform that gives clinicians the opportunity to help tinnitus sufferers manage their condition and find relief, rather than “just live with it” as they may have done in the past.
Some professionals offer Widex Zen Therapy to help you reduce the common negative effects of tinnitus, such as stress and sleep difficulties. Widex Zen Therapy consists of four components that can be tailored to your individual needs.
Tinnitus maskers, or tinnitus noisers, are small white noise machines that work to "drown out" or overpower the internal sounds of your tinnitus. However, they don't work in the same way as playing music or listening to a movie washes out the sound. They use specific noises and tones to dampen the noise in your ears.
Fractal tones are harmonic and melodic tones that sound like “wind chimes”; however, because they are not predictable, these tones cannot be associated with any other conventional music to which the patient may have been previously exposed.
Widex Moment 440 — Premium features include 15 frequency bands, 5 programs, feedback cancellation, noise reduction, speech enhancement and directionality. Widex Moment 330 — Advanced level technology with 12 frequency bands, 4 programs, feedback cancellation, noise reduction and directionality.
Tinnitus is a sound heard within the head or ears when no external sound is present. Many people pronounce it as tin-NYE-tus as if it is a condition such as laryngitis. However, it is actually pronounced TIN-ni-tus. No hard 'I' in the word at all and with the emphasis on the first syllable.
Hearing aids do not cause tinnitus in any way at all. If there are errors whilst tuning them however, then yes, they may exacerbate symptoms but all the same, they are not considered as a cause for tinnitus. In fact, the use of such aids is one of the most effective ways of treatment.
There's no known cure for tinnitus. Current treatments generally involve masking the sound or learning to ignore it. NIH-funded researchers set out to see if they could develop a way to reverse tinnitus by essentially resetting the brain's sound processing system.
Tinnitus pillows are discreet and won't bother others sleeping nearby. They deliver localised relief directly to the ears and you can control the proximity of the speakers to the ears. There is a wide variety of pillow features, such as filling material and consistency, to choose from for optimal comfort.
Unfortunately, at present there is no cure for tinnitus. There is no pill, no diet, no surgery that can cure or reduce tinnitus.
The answer is two-fold. It's important to recognize that hearing loss may gradually decline whether you wear hearing aids or not. If you don't wear hearing aids your ability to hear won't necessarily get worse, but your discrimination of speech is likely to get worse faster than if you were to wear hearing aids.
Most Natural Sound: Signia Silk X
The Signia Silk X is a completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aid. The small size gives you both an invisible fit and a customized hearing experience. Like other devices on this list, the Signia Silk X does not require an in-person fitting with a hearing professional.
RIC and BTE hearing aids are often considered to be the most comfortable as they minimise any blocked sensation with their small sound transmitters being the only element resting in the ear.
Your doctor may suggest using an electronic device to suppress the noise. Devices include: White noise machines. These devices, which produce a sound similar to static, or environmental sounds such as falling rain or ocean waves, are often an effective treatment for tinnitus.
There are currently no FDA-approved therapeutics for tinnitus. The most commonly used therapies include sound-based therapies, such as hearing amplification and masking, and counseling or cognitive behavior therapy (CBT).
These small devices look similar to a hearing aid, but instead of amplifying external noise, they produce a pleasant, low-volume stream of white noise. This external white noise covers up the internal noise caused by tinnitus.
